A Simple Running Log

Training for 8/16/16

This morning was actually a little pleasant, in the low 70s. Still 97 percent humidity, of course, but what else is new.

Since it was such a nice morning, and I was going to have to leave Pepper home alone later to cover something for the paper, I took him running with me.

We did a lap around the 7.3-mile loop. The first half was uneventful. I wasn’t too hot, but I was pouring sweat in that humidity. Around mile 4.5, we made a turn and I saw my favorite thing on a sweaty run — irrigation spraying right in the road!

Poor Pepper did not like it at all when I stood there in the road for a few minutes and just let the water land on us. He thought it was terrifying. I thought it was refreshing.

We got moving again. About a mile and a half from home, I had to run in the woods to use the bathroom. No surprise there.

The final half-mile home, I took a bug to the eye and got a massive side stitch, probably because I’d been running with no water for an hour.

Still a nice run, compared to the last few I’ve had, just because the weather was a tick more agreeable.
