A Simple Running Log

Training for 8/10/15

I am STILL actively avoiding the long runs on my training plan. I don’t know why!

Saturday, I didn’t get up until 10:30 a.m. And then, instead of running the 14-miler I was supposed to, I spent the morning lazing about the house. I did get this insanely cute picture of Pepper enjoying a full-body scratch from Clark though:

I knew he only puts up with us for that! That and food.

Sometime in the afternoon, I did finally go out to run, but I only did a lap around the 7.3-mile loop. We stayed in that evening.

Sunday, Clark wanted to get to Assateague right around low tide at 10 a.m., so we planned to leave the house by 7:30. We set the alarm for 5:30 so we could go for a short run together first, but I woke up at 6:30 when Pepper started pestering us for his breakfast. I said I’d never even heard the alarm, and Clark said that was because he was too quick turning it off when it started to go off haha. We’re a team!

We drove to Fenwick, loaded up the Jeep and drove to Assateague. The weather was gorgeous but the ocean was extremely rough! It looked like a washing machine out there. I didn’t even try to take the paddleboard out, and I only fought with a surfboard for about 15 minutes before I gave up even trying to paddle out past the waves.

About the only surfing equipment that served any purpose yesterday was the paddleboard leash, which we had to attach to Pepper’s collar after we realized we’d left his leash in my car.



We took everything back to Fenwick and then went to my family’s condo in Ocean City. We finally convinced Aunt Helen and Uncle John to let Pepper on the condo’s balcony (technically pets aren’t allowed per the lease), where Clark sat with him and drank beer while I sat on the beach with my family. In the evening, we all went to Dogfish Head for dinner, and then Clark, Pepper and I came home.

So it was a nice relaxing weekend — just light on the running, unfortunately, considering I’m signed up for a marathon in early November! Someone please kick my butt into gear. I just can’t seem to make myself feel like putting in all those miles right now.
