Training for 12/11/14

Last night, I was watching Wheel of Fortune, and the very first toss-up puzzle of the game, one of the contestants buzzed in. The first two words were clearly “wood-burning,” but she didn’t have the final word yet, so she made a desperate attempt:

“Wood-burning microwave.”

Um, no. She immediately started laughing, and then someone else buzzed in and solved it, “Wood-burning fireplace.” Pat said, “Well I know one kitchen I don’t want to be in!” I could not stop laughing! It sounds incredibly inefficient. I bet somewhere in Portland, a hipster has one.

I’m going out for my run here soon, really — four hill repeats on the Sharptown Bridge — but I felt like posting beforehand. JB posted some more great pictures last night, and the professional shots were also finally tagged by bib number so we can actually find them.

I changed my mind, I think this is my favorite picture from the whole weekend. If I didn’t already have a pair of those shoes, I’d go buy them. This looks like a damn New Balance ad, if you ignore the Under Armour shirt and Nike shorts. (Perpetrator.) I’ve told Clark before, when we’ve run together, how good his form is, but all he said in return was “Stop looking at my BUTT!”

Really though, he has the same perfect stride in all the other pics of him from the race:

Finish.

He was a pretty gifted athlete in school, particularly in soccer, so it doesn’t really surprise me he runs so well. He just claims to hate it.

Anyway, here are a couple of the professional shots of Jen and me:

Alright, I’m really going for my run now!
