Training for 7/11/13

Last night, as soon as I got home from work, I changed into running clothes and went out for a lap around the 6.5-mile loop.

It seemed like it was on the verge of raining the whole time. I think it did start sprinkling in the last mile, but that might have just been the sweat from my own clothes dripping on me again.

It was a pretty tough run. I guess the long run the day before and the strength training yesterday morning left me a little trashed. This is probably why the training plan spreads out workouts over an entire week, instead of mashing them all into a few days.

When I got home, I took a quick shower and then went out to the garage, where Clark, one of his coworkers and our neighbor had started working on the leftover Dogfish Head in the kegs. The coworker and our neighbor thought it was hilarious I would run for almost an hour and then pour myself a beer. Clark didn’t seem to find it strange at all.

Dave and Chad came over too, and we wound up having a nice little party in the garage. The night ended with Dave and me head banging to Breaking Benjamin haha.

Dave was pretty hammered, so he stayed at our place. This morning, he was shocked — shocked! — to find someone else had come into the room during the night and thrown up next to the bed he slept in. Oh wait, that was definitely his. He cleaned it up and went home.

I wasn’t feeling quite that bad, but I wasn’t feeling that great either, so I didn’t do the 3-mile pace run that was on the schedule this morning. My legs were also pretty sore, so I wasn’t too upset about putting off the run. I’ll do it tonight after I go grocery shopping.
